FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Exactly how much money are we trying to raise in the “Possess The Faith…Possess The Land!” campaign?
A: Our objective is to raise $2 Million over the 3 year period.   There are 5 initiatives underway to raise the funds to retire the debt and support remodeling projects for both the Emerson and Harvard campuses.
Q: I can’t believe that we are trying to raise $2 Million over 3 years.  Don’t you think that is a very aggressive goal given the bleak economic climate in Dayton?
A: You are correct! The economic forecast for the Dayton area is challenging but we trust in a very powerful God who can make all things possible.  In addition to the $1 Million congregational challenge, there are 4 additional initiatives that will generate the additional $1 Million-plus needed to pay-off the mortgage and fund the remodeling projects.
Q: Is this pledge in lieu of my tithes and offering?
A: No, the pledge to the “Possess The Faith…Possess The Land!” campaign is above and beyond your tithes and offering.  The campaign donations are earmarked for the debt retirement and facilities improvement projects.  Your tithes and offering are desperately needed to continue supporting church operations, ministry and benevolence.
Q: When do commitments start?
A: Pledges are being accepted today.  The plan was to begin giving toward our commitments on Sunday, April 20, 2008.   However, we had a $10,000 donation given on Friday, April 11th!  Please ensure your pledges are completed before April 30th so that your commitment can be included in the grand pledge total that will be announced on Victory Sunday, May 4, 2008!
Q: Will I have the opportunity to revise my commitment?
A: Yes, you may revise your commitment, either up or down, at any time during the three-year giving period
Q: How do we make our gifts?
A: The offering envelopes have a designated space for “Possess The Faith…Possess The Land!”  campaign.  This allows you to write one check for all of your giving, tithes & offering, “Possess The Faith…Posses The Land” and other giving.
Q: Do you think God will help me meet a commitment which right now seems beyond my means?
A: Just as surely as He helps us in any other area of life.  A large commitment often means large faith.  Remember, where God leads, God also provides!  Also, as a church we are incorporating several programs in our campaign that will help our members live a more abundant life.  A new bible study, “Living A Balanced Financial Life” and various financial seminars are being planned throughout the year to support our congregants in getting their finances in order.
Q: Can we make a family commitment?
A: Yes!
Q: Can I give toward my commitment once a year – or every three months?
A: Yes, however, most of us find it easier to keep up week-by-week, or at least monthly.
